This particular textile collection of Ikats was designed by LoU and created by master artisans, over many decades, on the island of Sumba, Indonesia. The process of creating an Ikat is complex and labor intensive. Threads are meticulously tied (or bound together) then immersed in plant and mineral based dyes before being stretched taught on the loom. After that comes a mixture a tradition and magic, as the exquisite patterning in the cloth is revealed while being woven into one of LoU's  contemporary designs. The Ikat below was created in a natural mud dye
